N\u00e9 en Allemagne, l\u2019artiste fut apprenti chez un sculpteur sur bois, avant d\u2019\u00e9tudier \u00e0 la manufacture de porcelaine de Frankenthal, aupr\u00e8s de Johann Peter Melchior. C\u2019est ce dernier qui l\u2019initie au style n\u00e9oclassique. Landolin se sp\u00e9cialise alors dans les portraits en m\u00e9daillon, notamment en alb\u00e2tre. Install\u00e9 \u00e0 Strasbourg vers 1801, il devient le chef de file de l\u2019\u00e9cole alsacienne.
