Celles que l\u2019on n\u2019oublie jamais. Il y a quelques mois, G\u00e9raldine d\u2019Ouince, commissaire-priseur associ\u00e9e de la maison de ventes De Baecque, envoie \u00e0 Alexandre Lacroix des photographies format timbre-poste de l\u2019inventaire d\u2019une maison de campagne. Saisi au vif, celui-ci insiste pour voir le plus vite possible un buste qui l\u2019interpelle. Le lendemain matin, devant le 69, rue Sainte-Anne, \u00e0 Paris, il fait le pied de grue, tr\u00e9pignant d\u2019impatience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-comp cb-item\"><strong>\u00ab\u2009La recherche m\u2019amuse plus que tout\u2009\u00bb<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-comp cb-item\">Alexandre Lacroix n\u2019est pas un novice. Le seul cabinet d\u2019expertise parisien d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 la sculpture du Moyen \u00c2ge \u00e0 nos jours se fait bient\u00f4t un nom. En 2017, lors de la vente Camille Claudel chez\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.artnewspaper.fr\/artcurial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Artcurial<\/a>, douze des vingt sculptures sont pr\u00e9empt\u00e9es. S\u2019il est mordu de terres cuites du XVIIIe si\u00e8cle, Alexandre Lacroix est encore plus fou de bronzes. Dans les archives, Elodie Jeannest de Gyv\u00e8s retrace l\u2019historique de cet objet hors du commun. Command\u00e9 en 1610, l\u2019ann\u00e9e de la mort d\u2019Henri IV, par Paul Ph\u00e9lypeaux, qui fut ministre de trois rois et de Marie de M\u00e9dicis, pour orner la chapelle des Tr\u00e9pass\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9glise Saint-Germain-l\u2019Auxerrois \u00e0 Paris, et fondu sans doute vers 1630 \u00e0 la demande de sa veuve, Anne de Beauharnais, le buste appara\u00eet sur un dessin de Robert de Cotte repr\u00e9sentant la chapelle familiale des Ph\u00e9lypeaux, o\u00f9 il \u00e9tait plac\u00e9 en hauteur. Avant la fin du r\u00e8gne de Louis XIV, Louis Ph\u00e9lypeaux de Pontchartrain, qui occupa les m\u00eames fonctions que son grand-p\u00e8re, r\u00e9cup\u00e9ra la sculpture pour l\u2019int\u00e9grer \u00e0 sa collection d\u2019\u0153uvres de\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.artnewspaper.fr\/giambologna\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Giambologna<\/a>, Fran\u00e7ois Girardon et Michel Anguier dans son ch\u00e2teau \u00e0 Pontchartrain. Le buste figure ensuite sans interruption dans les inventaires de la famille jusqu\u2019\u00e0 son passage chez Adelaide-Diane-Hortense Mancini-Mazarin et Louis-Hercule Timol\u00e9on de Coss\u00e9-Brissac, amant de Madame du Barry, puis, par h\u00e9ritage, chez les Mortemart.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0<em>Au-del\u00e0<\/em>\u00a0<em>de<\/em>\u00a0<em>la<\/em>\u00a0<em>fonte,<\/em>\u00a0<em>qui<\/em>\u00a0<em>est<\/em>\u00a0<em>d\u2019une<\/em>\u00a0<em>grande<\/em>\u00a0<em>ma\u00eetrise,<\/em>\u00a0explique Alexandre Lacroix, cachant mal son
